Toughened Glass

Toughened or tempered glass is a type of safety glass that undergoes controlled thermal treatment in order to enhance its strength in comparison to standard glass. This process introduces balanced internal stresses, providing the glass with five times the strength of float glass.

In the event of breakage, toughened glass typically fractures into small, less hazardous fragments instead of sharp shards, minimizing the risk of severe injuries and deep lacerations. Due to its safety and strength attributes, and compliance with BS 6206 standards, toughened glass is widely utilized.
