Double GLazed Units

Insulated Glass Units (IGUs), also known as sealed units or double glazed units, are airtight assemblies comprising two glass panes separated by an edge spacer. These units are sealed on all edges using a butyl sealant to prevent the infiltration of humid outside air. A desiccant within the spacer effectively removes any residual humidity from the airspace, preventing the formation of water on the inner surfaces of the glass panes.

Common applications include:

• Domestic and commercial glazing.
• Thermal and acoustic efficiency.
• Doors, windows, conservatories, curtain walling, and atriums.

IGUs, tested to EN1279 parts 2 and 3, are customized to specific orders and can incorporate virtually any combination of glass and glass types. Spacer thickness options range from 6mm to 20mm, available in silver aluminum, dark bronze anodized aluminum, powder-coated white aluminum, and ‘warm-edge’ plastic in various colors. Additional style elements, such as Georgian bars, duplex (back-to-back) spacers, leaded designs, and stepped edges, can be employed for added aesthetic appeal.
