FLoat Glass
Float glass, often referred to as annealed glass, is a singular sheet of glass with a uniform thickness, commonly known as ‘ordinary glass.’ Due to its brittleness, float glass has the potential to break upon impact, forming sharp and hazardous fragments, which is why it is not classified as safety glass. For use in domestic, double glazing and picture framing.
We offer a diverse range of float glass including:
- Clear, low iron, low-emissivity, satin, a diverse range of tinted solar control, anti-sun options in grey, bronze, green, and blue, as well as self-cleaning, one-way ‘spy glass,’ and various patterns.
Available thicknesses comprise 4mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, and 19mm.
LAMINATED GLASS
Laminated glass stands out as a safety glass variant that retains its integrity when shattered. In the event of breakage, an interlayer, typically composed of polyvinyl butyral (PVB), binds the two or more glass layers together. This interlayer maintains the cohesion of the glass layers, preventing the formation of large, sharp pieces upon breakage. The result is a characteristic “spider web” cracking pattern, especially when the impact is insufficient to fully penetrate the glass.
This type of glass finds application in scenarios where human impact is possible or where shattered glass could pose a falling hazard. The primary attribute of laminated glass is its safety performance, meeting the BS 6206 mark. Additionally, it serves security purposes, with multiple laminated glass layers proving effective against bullets and ballistic threats.
Common applications include:
- Single and double glazing.
- Overhead/sloped roofs.
- Shopfronts, schools, and public areas.
- Banks and secured environments.
Available in clear, white diffused, low-emissivity, a diverse range of tinted solar control, anti-sun options in grey, bronze, green, and blue, UV fade-resistant, one-way ‘spy glass,’ and stippolyte.
ACOUSTIC GLASS
Acoustic glass, a variant of laminated safety glass, incorporates a sound-absorbent (PVB) interlayer, delivering noticeable noise insulation and contributing to the creation of quieter indoor environments.
This specialized glass effectively diminishes noise pollution from sources such as air, train, and road traffic, general street noise, and loud neighbors. It is equally proficient at containing sound within spaces, making it suitable for scenarios where confidentiality or consideration for neighbors is crucial.
With its adherence to safety standards like BS 6206, acoustic glass can be employed in safety-critical locations. It can also be seamlessly combined with other glass products to form sealed units.
Common applications include:
- Partitions, single glazing, and double glazing.
- Homes, offices, airports, train stations, nightclubs, or music venues.
- Any setting requiring insulation against excessive noise levels.
We offer acoustic glass in various thicknesses, including 6.8mm, 8.8mm, 10.8mm, 12.8mm, and 16.8mm.
